There are no racial majorities in Hawai'i which means everyone's a minority. Caucasians constitute about 33% of the population; Japanese about another third; Filipinos roughly 16%; & Chinese maybe 5%; the rest more or less native. And most of the population has mixed ethnicities.

They all better listen up if they want to learn about their home islands now. Because their past society was largely an oral rather than a written culture, ancient Hawaiians would learn values & history thru trained storytellers... stories considered so sacred listeners were not allowed to move once they began.

Lonohana practically deserves if not demands the same silence & respect during this chocolate luau it throws mainly for the benefit of haoles (re: gringos) dressed in muumuu from the mainland.

Hallowed.
Appearance   4.6 / 5

Color: definitional polychrome
Surface: the islands in a sea of chocolate (see photo)
Temper: unphased
Snap: glorp
Aroma   8 / 10
Kanahiku
candida chocolate… a yeasty brew -> sits up vinaigrette

Hapalua
elegant understatement -- black tie with a white pocket square

Hapalua Twist
more pronounced then its Hapalua parent (above), both MIlk Choc-wise + a dried flower meadow embedded within
Mouthfeel   13.3 / 15
Texture: tuck-in service
Melt: time-consuming
Flavor   46.9 / 50
Kanahiku
stone cocoa + some sprouting greens between the cracks for a little cacáo verde -> black walnut hulls -> cold fudge mixed with an atemoya fruit -> goes herbal on smoked green tea & tobacco -> surges to a juicy ender (bilberry & Japanese plum) -> schizandra-teak the after-math

Hapalua
royal black mulberry & bahri dates conspire for black caramel -> salted Dark-Milk choc reverberates at the lower depths -> phantom dragon-fruit

Hapalua Twist
caramel milk shake laced with a superb floral malt… soon the lacing dominates the profile to the point of conjuring up graham crackers (the added cinnamon FX)
Quality   18.4 / 20
Kanahiku
70% cacáo-content
Almost raw at its start but even there the dumbfounding depth of nearly frozen volcanic cocoa spares it, then slowly warms over the course of the melt for a real shape-shifter both in terms of Texture & Flavor.
Crafted from a diverse array of genetic material for a single-estate blend.
INGREDIENTS: cocoa mass, sugar

Hapalua
50% cacáo-content
Special.
True Dark-Milk. The combo of high-percentage, Hawaiian terra & dairy create white-lava pyrotechnics.
INGREDIENTS: cocoa mass, milk powder, sugar

Hapalua Twist
Precision tailoring.
Lonohana just adds a little local Kona cinnamon sticks to the Hapalua party mix. The whole assembly just rhymes together. Apparently this barsmith can do no wrong.
INGREDIENTS: cocoa mass, milk powder, sugar, cinnamon
