Aroma 7.6 / 10
Rogue's grille is on: charcoal permeates waves of star fruit & orange undercut by lit tobacco & immortelle wood typical in Trinidads -> butter wax rounds the profile; mulched cocoa chips on the rubdown
Mouthfeel 8.2 / 15
Texture: | frail & meager |
Melt: | rapid |
Flavor 29.7 / 50
sensational & sensorial opening: huge hedonics on chocolate star-fruit -> honey bee hovers above guava flowers, hibiscus (emphasizing its raspberry aspect) & bougainvillea... grille action underneath (lightly charred wood) -> loses poise along an abrupt fissure as the coal-fired grille melts into asphalt, creating havoc -> downscales & wobbles off coconut shells, dirty butter absorbing burnt tea leaves -> falls apart over unripened passionfruit, hornet juice, & more coconut (this time dried - copra) -> combines for strawflower (helichrysum) & myrtle -> straggling cocoa up against cardboard; only real chocolate bang other than very beginning reserved for the finish - well after the joint is gone
Quality 11.2 / 20
Disjointed; structural mess that lost control at several stages. Feels of varying batches, some including rank bean selection fraught with improper drying &/or storage, others of separate roast; & butter from a much different source (hardly unusual) but tastes contaminated with off-odors as if somewhere in the processing chain a gas line leaks.
Just the 3rd bar after a couple precocious releases (Ocumare & Sambirano) for upstart Rogue, with 2 more coming in quick succession which signals 'too many too soon'... a noob running before it safely walks.
