Ébène
by WeissImpact
Cacáo never needs to shriek seeing how chocolate speaks directly on the tongue.
A bar for those who still believe in romance & seduction. Intensely feminine; tres delicat – charmingly shy, ala coquettish. Sugar ‘n spice, Weiss as nice. French perfume-making, in effect: breezy bouquets, air-kisses, & diaphonous gauzy chiffon – all frou-frou that adds up to a flying-flower / chocolate-butterfly in the embrace of Euro-elegance (to use a banned word on the C-spot’s™ prohibited words list).

Appearance 4.2 / 5
Color: | lives up to its name – ebony, w/ purple tinge |
Surface: | well-finished; near perfect |
Temper: | sagging semi-flat |
Snap: | a shot to the ears; excellent crystallization along the wall |
Aroma 8.4 / 10
timid yet florid perfume: those soft woods in Weiss 85 convert to sweet center-note chocolate surrounded in quiet florals (tell-tale Ecuador: lavender, orange blossom, vanilla orchids, & the ever-complementary ylang, the latter suggests Madagascar) -> leather ‘n hay -> airs light cinnamon & coffee downunder
Mouthfeel 11.9 / 15
Texture: | svelte silk weight (w/ a bump & clump here & there) |
Melt: | oddly smooth at a staggered pace |
Flavor 44.3 / 50
delicate flower power -> cocoa meal -> biscuit -> mite cherry bomb as vanilla works thru to crème de this ‘n that, before finally settling in brulée -> lots of tiny evasive flavorings (more floral wreaths + citrus) incl spice fragments (cinnamon, licorice, coriander &, of course, sugar), leaving indelible little marks as excruciatingly exquisite as a masseuse’s gentle fingertips -> rubs down mocha-molasses -> late orange sunset slips behind chocolate fudge for happy ending -> lights out vanilla
Quality 17.5 / 20
A well-orchestrated & harmonized blend of adequate bean selection (obvious Ecaudor & West Africa). No hitting over the head or ripping tongues out, though it comes dangerously close to overplaying the vanilla hand, & core cocoa flavor partially randomizes throughout - free of any episodic spasms however.
The name (Ébène) could stand for e-bean, as in emailing it in, & someone into leather, chains, tats & piercings might think just that... chocolate e-vasion which makes it excruciatingly interesting (damn, another banned word on the list). The blissful tags are encapsulated at painfully faint tinctures, virtually homeopathic, with a Texture providing just enough tactile feedback to confirm those minamalist taste impressions.
Weiss tenderly making its mark.
ING: cocoa mass, sugar, cacáo butter, vanilla
