Sur del Lago – literally ‘south of the lake’ in Spanish, in this case south of Lake Maracaibo & formerly designated Maracaibo when its cacáo was more pure. Now a mixture of a wide variety of genetic material – Criollo, Trinitario, Pajarito – constituting a ‘natural blend’. From 1 of 2 regions in Venezuela located in either a) SW of Lake Maracaibo or b) sub-Andean foothills.
