Obscure & docile. Eviscerates both beans (cacáo & coffee) into a lump of coal, disposing them together like the ball sack of a castrated bull.
Appearance   4.5 / 5
Color: fearsome dark maroon
Surface: inscrutably smooth
Temper: semi-flat
Snap: thin brick; fine break wall
Aroma   6.8 / 10
sugary axis... very under-powering for 2 titans: incredibly light / heavily diluted coffee (in cinnamon guise) buried deep under an avalanche of simple chocolate & florid coconut cream; signaling a base of Marcolini’s Ghana cacáo probably cut w/ Ecuador Nacional or his Fleur de Cacao blend
Mouthfeel   10.4 / 15
Texture: rubbery...
Melt: ...plasticity
Flavor   35.2 / 50
(sugar cast / pale chocolate + coconut waste) = the base -> dirty pre-fruit -> explodes off a fat raisin -> coffee hangs in the recesses, gradually emerges in dribs ‘n drabs... late stage... a watered-down veil of charcoal
Quality   14.7 / 20
Pretty hard to make a single potentate (let alone 2) abnegate power. The tendency is for 1, usually coffee, to dominate but w/ force of flavor. Marcolini tries cutting it too close & cute, hoping to generate - & then only in a parting shot - subtle analogues of coffee for a lasting impression. Instead, low-grade bulk-coffee sprays a mild cocoa base, leaving behind dirty wash splatter.
